House ends on Dark Arts: both stun, then recover in order
A House-initiated encounter stuns both pawns and relocates the Dark Arts pawn to an adjacent space. House and Dark Arts Replenish actions then use different recovery orders.
This hypothetical situation was written by the wiki editors from the cited rules. It is an explanation, not a publisher ruling or a recorded playtest.
Stun: House moves onto Dark Arts
Original wiki schematics: symbols explain categories; positions and arrows explain procedures. They do not reproduce the physical icons, board coordinates or adjacency between named locations. Check the physical board and official rulebook for actual routes and component artwork.
HHouse PawnDDark Arts PawnSideways = stunned
H ends its move on the space occupied by D.
Place both pawns sideways; this is a stun, not a bump.
The House Player chooses an adjacent space for D; both stay stunned.
This relocation belongs to the collision procedure. A stunned pawn cannot otherwise use card movement or effects to move; recovery occurs during its owner’s Replenish action.

Hypothetical example: an unstunned House pawn legally finishes a move on a space with one Dark Arts pawn. No card overrides the normal encounter rule. The recovery steps below occur on the respective players’ later turns, before the final phase.
Resolve it step by step
Identify the moving pawn as a House pawn. This direction invokes Stunning, rather than the Dark Arts Bumped procedure.
Lay both pawns sideways to mark them as stunned.
The House player chooses an adjacent space and moves the Dark Arts pawn there, as specifically required by this encounter rule. Both pawns remain stunned after this relocation.
Until a stun is reversed, do not move the stunned pawn using a card’s movement or effect. The encounter’s prescribed relocation does not grant a continuing permission to move stunned pawns.
On the House player’s later Replenish turn: optionally discard cards, draw until the hand contains five cards, stand all of that player’s stunned pawns, then advance the Dark Arts Marker one space and resolve any triggered event.
On the Dark Arts player’s later Replenish turn: stand all of their stunned pawns first, then draw until their hand contains five cards. The Dark Arts player cannot discard cards to refresh the hand, and this Replenish does not itself advance the Dark Arts Marker.
Result
The House pawn stays on the encounter space, while the Dark Arts pawn is moved to an adjacent space chosen by the House player. Both need their stun reversed before ordinary movement resumes; neither is automatically sent to the Great Hall by this procedure.
Common mistakes
- Do not confuse Replenish with an ordinary card draw: a draw effect does not by itself stand stunned pawns.
- The House sequence is draw, stand, advance; the Dark Arts sequence is stand, draw. A later event may change the resulting board state.
- Check the actual card text whenever an effect expressly changes a normal rule.
