React from hand: effect now, no movement, then discard
A triggered Reactive Effect resolves from hand outside the player’s turn, without the card’s movement value. The used card is discarded immediately afterward.
This hypothetical situation was written by the wiki editors from the cited rules. It is an explanation, not a publisher ruling or a recorded playtest.
Starting situation
Hypothetical timing-only example: during another player’s turn, a House player has a card with the lightning-bolt Reactive Effect icon in hand. Assume the condition printed on that actual card has just been met and the player elects to react. This case does not invent the card’s name, trigger or effect; those must be read from the card in play.
Resolve it step by step
Verify that the reactive card is in hand and that its actual trigger is met outside its owner’s turn.
Reveal the card and resolve only its printed effect immediately. Apply the actual effect to the situation that triggered it.
Do not use the card’s movement value or add a full Explore action to this reaction.
After resolving the effect, place the reactive card on the House player’s Discard Pile immediately.
Continue the active player’s turn with the resulting state. The reacted card is no longer in hand to be played again next turn.
Result
The House player uses the effect at its trigger and then discards the card, receiving no movement from it. The particular reaction’s outcome depends entirely on the real card text.
Common mistakes
- A lightning icon is not a licence to react at any moment: the actual condition must be met.
- Do not wait for the next personal turn to discard a card already used as a reaction.
- The alternative use on the owner’s Explore turn is movement without the Reactive Effect, not a second use of this already discarded card.

Consistent terms, section search and two-side teaching
Unified 35 sourced English–Chinese terms and registered all three open rule questions. Search and guide backlinks now lead to matching sections in the current language. Added card-flow diagrams, conditional Dark Arts lessons and exact movement allowances alongside the five existing House comparisons. Unknown rules, routes, card effects and future draws remain unfilled.

Card lookup, comparison and effect timing
Unified card navigation on the card catalogue and labelled map links as movement guides. Added attribute filters and a shareable comparison of up to four source-checked card faces. Six additional Dark Arts Starter faces bring the collection to 16 named faces and 55 reference entries. Added 11 timing questions and four hypothetical worked examples with printed-page sources. This records preview content; the complete Acquire Deck remains outside the available evidence.
